usa + wbc = lol follow-up
This is a continuation of/addendum to this post, which I wrote yesterday. If you haven't read it, you may want to.
Okay, so, when we left off, the mighty Americans and their roster of stars needed help to get to the knockout stage of the World Baseball Classic. Last night, Italy played Mexico, and for the United States to go through (and escape significant embarrassment), Italy would have to win outright or, if Mexico won, they would have to score 5 runs or more.
Anyway, Italy beat the fuck out of Mexico last night, so the States snuck through. I hope the way they got there makes them feel ashamed and embarrassed because it fucking should.
Anyway, while the American juggernaut was wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin' (they likely weren't thinkin' actually) Team Canada was dispatching Cuba 7-2 —— setting up a Canada vs. USA matchup that will happen tomorrow night.
If Canada wins —— and, to be clear, we are huge underdogs —— I will bring it up to every American I know every day for the rest of time for reasons including but not limited to we're on the brink of WWIII anyway so "the rest of time" might be able to be measured with an egg timer.
