In the spirit of DMail and perhaps in anticipation of its prospective revival, I drop links posts every now and again to get back in the habit of sharing interesting things even if my curation is a bit rough and ready.1
Because I'm a pedant who caterwauls about how no one reads anymore, each of the links below is to an article (sorry not sorry, eat your vegetables). As is my way, some degree of care has been taken to spotlight independent media and non-paywalled articles.2

John Semley's piece for The Nation is about how "sports, politics, and culture are being recast in terms of wagers, probabilities, over-unders, and other betting slang" and how it's all "reshaping the experience of American life in the 21st century."
🏀🏀 Toward a Unified Theory of Uncool (Never Hungover/Substack)
In this fascinating piece, Ock Sportello goes deep into... something, and writes fantastic lines like "Jalen Brunson, by all meaningful measures, is a winner. He is, more importantly, a loser." Really, really jealous I don't write like this tbh.3
🤮🤮 Art in the Age of Slop (Counter Craft/Substack)
Lincoln Michel, author of The Body Scout, wrote about how "In the slop age, old dichotomies like 'art vs. entertainment' feel outdated" and also how "slop is the natural outgrowth of art as 'content.' Work whose primary purpose is to fill a bottomless container." As a guy who has been angry about all acts of human creation being reduced to "content" for the last 20 years, I really felt this one. I hope you do too.
